YEREVAN. – Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s visit to Washington DC. is not canceled, but rather postponed at the request of the American side.

The PM’s visit, which was slated between Wednesday and Sunday, is pushed back due to the current budget crisis in the United States, Sargsyan’s press secretary Harutyun Berberyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am

To note, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan canceled his visit to Washington DC, Zhoghovurd daily reported. “From [Wednesday,] October 9 to [Sunday, October] 13, he was to attend the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund annual summit in the US. On September 23, he had even adopted a special decision to send a delegation to the US capital city. On [Monday,] October 7, however, he canceled his previous decision. At the same time, the other members of the delegation likewise will not travel to Washington [DC]. [But] it is not difficult to presume why Sargsyan took this step. On [Friday,] October 11, the Armenian PM had left for Moscow on an urgent visit, to meet with the PMs of the RF [i.e., the Russian Federation],” Zhoghovurd wrote.
