ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Monday received renowned Latvian composer, USSR People’s Artist Raimonds Pauls, and Russian State Duma member, President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia, Soviet hockey legend Vladislav Tretiak.     

Karekin II stressed that the Christian faith has strengthened the spiritual and creative life of the Armenian nations, informs the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The Catholicos also highly appreciated Pauls’ and Tretiak’s great contribution to music and sports. 

On their part, the renowned Latvian composer and the Soviet hockey legend expressed Karekin II their gratitude for the warm reception.

After the talk, Raimonds Pauls and Vladislav Tretiak toured the museums of the Mother See and got acquainted with the national and spiritual treasures of the Armenian people.
