YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday participated in the opening of Izmirlian medical center in Yerevan.  

President Sargsyan toured the renovated medical center, got acquainted with the services provided to the patients and talked to the staff.

Talking to reporters, director of the center Professor Armen Muradian said the hospital is equipped with the latest medical equipment and is able to receive a large number of patients. The center was opened with the support of Swiss philanthropists of Armenian origin, Dikran and Helena Izmirlian.

In 2001, the center was privatized and handed over to the Mother See for charitable programs. The renovation works estimated at $12 million provided by the Izmirlian Foundation and philanthropist Louise Simone Manoogian.

Currently, the center has 9 major departments and seats up to 139 beds. Renovated scientific and educational center “Nerses the Great” will coordinate the cooperation with other hospitals, scientific and educational institutions of Armenia. The medical center has around 200 employees.
