The suspected murderer of Russian young man in Moscow has been wanted for a murder in Azerbaijan, Moscow police chief Anatoly Yakunin said.

The man who killed Yegor Shcherbakov in front of his girlfriend has been identified as Orkhan Zeynalov, a native of Azerbaijan.

Yakunin said they had contacted Azerbaijani colleagues and clarified that the suspect had been wanted, RIA Novosti reported.

The death of Yegor Shcherbakov sparked mass protests in the southern district of Moscow. The incident made local residents take to the streets.
