YEREVAN. – Armenia and Belarus will create an international research center of biological station on Lake Sevan to study freshwater ecosystems.

The corresponding agreement was signed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the State Committee on Science of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The first meeting of the joint Belarusian-Armenian commission on scientific and technical cooperation is being held in the Armenian capital on October 14-15.

During the meeting, the sides have identified priority areas of the Belarusian- Armenian scientific cooperation: mathematics, mechanics and computer science, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, medical science and pharmaceuticals, human science, Earth remote sensing, information technology, fundamentals of engineering, agricultural sciences.

The sides agreed on the procedure for the competition of scientific programs within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the committees of the two states.
