Four Armenians and a resident of the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Federation (RF), who are accused of producing counterfeit money, were arrested in Moscow.

An RF citizen Armenian, who is born in 1968, is considered the ringleader of this criminal gang.

Having produced the counterfeit money, they were using them in the Russian capital and in the major cities of the country.

They were forging 50-ruble (approx. $1.57) banknotes which they were transferring to their bank account, by way of automated teller machines, and subsequently withdrawing the real money.

The suspected Armenian had formed the gang in January 2010, Interfax news agency reports.

With a court ruling, all detainees are placed under arrest.

The RF Police are confident that the arrestees have accomplices, whom the law enforcement is searching.
