ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Sunday received a United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation led by Hamid Dhiya Jafar, representative of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi III, Emir (Ruler) of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The delegation had arrived in Armenia to attend the official opening of Haghartsin Monastic Complex, informed the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin press office.

In addition, the Catholicos awarded commemorative medals to Hamid Dhiya Jafar as well as to Diaspora-Armenian benefactors Varouj Nerguizian and Hrair Soghomonian for their active involvement in the restoration of the monastic complex.   

In turn Hamid Dhiya Jafar expressed joy by the reopening of Haghartsin Monastic Complex, which was restored by the philanthropy of the Emir (Ruler) of Sharjah, and thanked Karekin II for the warm reception.

Following the talk, the delegation from the United Arab Emirates toured the Mother See.
