YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday met with senior officials from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of the Balkan Athletic Federations (ABAF). 

The delegation was led by IAAF Vice President, legendary pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.

The members of the delegation have arrived in Armenia to attend, from October 27 to Wednesday in capital city Yerevan, the year-ending summary of the ABAF athletic results, informs the Press Office of the President of Armenia.     

Armenia is an ABAF member since 2012 and, according to the guests, it has achieved some progress toward the development of athletics. 

Sargsyan welcomed the delegation members and stressed the importance of interacting with famous athletes. 

Bubka and the officials of the two athletics federations briefed the President on the activities and upcoming programs of the ABAF.   

They also expressed their willingness to continue to assist the Armenian Athletic Federation, and underscored the attention that Armenia pays to athletics.
