YEREVAN. – The process of liberalization of visa requirements with Armenia will continue during the Vilnius summit, said European Parliament member Milan Cabrnoch.

The European Parliament gave a green light and, as Cabrnoch was assured in Yerevan, Armenia will ratify the agreement. However, the move will suggest only a more liberal approach while issuing visas.

Cabrnoch, European Chairman of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, noted that EU will continue to support civil society in Armenia, and will try to breathe new life into programs carried out while preparing to the signing of the Association Agreement.

Samvel Farmanyan, Armenian co-chairman of the committee, noted that Armenia once again confirmed its desire to be closer to the EU and to take steps in this direction.

“This is one of the priorities for Armenia. For us technical and financial components of EU support are important.  Negotiations are underway between Yerevan and Brussels to form a new agenda of cooperation,” he said.

Farmanyan noted that during the next four-day session of the parliament the Armenian lawmakers will vote to ratify visa facilitation agreements.
