YEREVAN. – Turkey’s joining the Customs Union is technically impossible, Armenian Deputy FM Shavrash Kocharyan said.

He said Turkey is currently a member of the EU Customs Union, therefore the country cannot join two unions simultaneously.

As to Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Customs Union, Kocharyan noted this prevented from signing of DCFTA.

Deputy FM stressed that Armenia had never had aspirations to join EU or NATO, but wished to have free trade with Europe.

Armenia decided to join Customs Union after it became clear that it is possible without having common borders.
