TBILISI. – A principal decision was made to lift visa requirements between Georgia and Israel. 

Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin of Israel stated the abovementioned following his talk with Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, in Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi.   

Elkin told news reporters that the respective technical details will be discussed with Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs.

Subsequently, Garibashvili considered the decision to lift visas with Israel as a historic event.

On her part, Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze noted that this does not mean the Georgian citizens may head to Israel without visas as of tomorrow. As per the FM, this solely means the first step in the respective talks is taken, reports Gruzia Online news agency of Georgia.
