YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan, who is in Switzerland on a working visit, on Friday met with Swiss President Ueli Maurer, who is also Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports.

The interlocutors discussed bilateral relations, Armenia’s interaction with the EU, regional security, Armenian-Turkish relations, and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.    

The parties also reflected on Switzerland’s priorities as the 2014 chairing country at the OSCE, the need to further deepen relations with Armenia, and several other matters of mutual interest, informs the NSC press service. 

In addition, Baghdasaryan held talks with Christian Catrina, Head of Security Policy at the General Secretariat of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport; and State Secretary Yves Rossier of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. 

They discussed regional security, the avenues for the maintenance of peace, and the mechanisms for a discourse on security issues.    

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue in the domains of security, defense, and foreign policy.
