YEREVAN. – The U.S. Embassy marked Global Entrepreneurship Week 2013 by hosting a technology “SparkLab” event at the Yerevan American Corner, including children and teachers from Yerevan school 67.

The SparkLab is inspired by the Smithsonian Institution and is meant to encourage critical thinking and problem solving for young people, an important component in building young entrepreneurs. The event was attended by U.S. Embassy Chargé d’affaires a.i. Woodward C. Price.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.

During one week each November since 2007, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors—introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

Additional events this week include a business plan competition, a seminar for U.S. program alumni, and a micro-enterprise seminar for women in rural communities.
