YEREVAN. – Armenia for the second time marked the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau holiday, French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud said.

The holiday of young wine from Beaujolais was marked only for the second time, while since 1951 it has been celebrated both in France and worldwide.

According to the diplomat, the celebrations commence in the town of Beaujeu, where a march of winemakers dressed in traditional costumes and carrying torches from vine is held. At midnight  young wine barrels are opened in the main square of the town and the festivities start.

Henri Reynaud also noted that in 2010 the wine was imported to Armenia within the framework of cultural events, and this move did not pursue commercial goals. It was a cultural bridge between the two countries.
