YEREVAN. – Armenians will not refuse to have interesting mobile content in Armenian language, Andrey Pyatakhin CEO of ArmenTel CJSC (trade mark – Beeline).

According to the company, smartphones account for over 20 percent of mobile market in Armenia.

“The numbers are higher than in Russia, and in general, popularity of expensive and advanced phones is very high,” Pyatakhin said during the conference dedicated to development of mobile content in Armenia sponsored by ArmenTel company.

Nevertheless, not all smartphone users are active internet users, and the problem is typical for the Western Europe.

“In Japan and South Korea the share of smartphones active on the web reaches 80 percent. But it does not happen everywhere. The market of smartphones and tablets is growing rapidly and is very promising,” he said.

At the same time there are good prospects for development of content in Armenian language. Numerous examples prove that the content on a language of a country can be popular. If content is really interesting, the Armenian people will notice it, he added.

ArmenTel CJSC is a subsidiary of OJSC VimpelCom in Armenia.
