YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Friday visited [Armenian poet Yeghishe] Charents Museum of Literature and Arts, and toured the museum’s new exhibition.

Museum Director Karo Vardanyan informed that the exhibition includes 18th-20th-century Armenian literature, theater, cinema and music creations.

Subsequently, the President awarded the Movses Khorenatsi (Moses of Khoren) Medal to art specialist Volkmar Gantzhorn (Germany), in recognition of his contribution to the introduction of Armenian carpet-making to the world and international recognition of the Armenian art of carpet-making.     

Gantzhorn has arrived in Armenia on the occasion of the launch of the Armenian version of his book devoted to Christian-oriental carpets.

The German scholar thanked for being considered worthy of such an award.    

The President also followed the performance by the Traditional Musical Instruments ensemble.  

After his visit to Charents Museum of Literature and Arts, Serzh Sargsyan will hold a consultation meeting at the Ministry of Culture.
