YEREVAN. – The issue of possible signing of a document between Armenia and EU in Vilnius is still being discussed, Germany’s Ambassador Reiner Morell said.

“We still have a lot of time, as much as three days. It is a long period for international conferences,” the diplomat said during NATO-Armenia conference held in Yerevan on Tuesday.

“Many things are done on the day of a conference, when participants come together and begin to discuss further action,” he added.

Asked whether any document will be signed, Ambassador Morell said he is more inclined to the fact that the document will be signed.

However, the diplomat noted that regardless of the document, Armenia remains a member of Eastern Partnership project. The German Ambassador is convinced that people are wrong if they think that Europe and Russia are pulling the countries to their sides.

“It is wrong. Eastern Partnership aims to support the six member countries in the field of democratization, economic modernization. This is done for the benefit of these countries, I do not think anyone can be against it,” he said, adding that apart from the Association Agreement, there are other forms of cooperation.

The third Eastern Partnership summit will be held in Vilnius on November 28-29.
