YEREVAN. – Education is the field that is high on Armenia–EU agenda, the representatives of EU delegation in Armenia said.

Dirk Lorenz, head f the Political, Economic, Press and Information Section, addressed the participants of live screening of European Development Days 2013 that took place in EU Centre in Yerevan on Tuesday.

The diplomat said Armenia and EU are cooperating on education especially through Tempus and Erasmus Mundus programs.

“I participated in Erasmus Mundus. I went to Poland for half a year and I met my future wife,” he said.

Dirk Lorenz noted that Erasmus Mundus and Tempus will be replaced by Erasmusplus, a program that will be even larger and will provide more opportunities for students’ exchange.

Cooperation on education and civil society will be even more important in the future in Armenia-EU relations, Lorenz assured.

“Civil society, youth, mobility, people to people contacts will be high on the agenda,” he added.

The address was followed by live screening of European Development Days 2013 from Brussels during which education issues were discussed.

Organised by the European Commission, European Development Days is Europe’s premier forum on international affairs and development cooperation. The forum aims to consolidate a unified approach to pressing issues and inspire thinking on international cooperation in an open and inclusive manner.

Launched in 2006, its scope and scale has increased year-on-year, as links with new networks are made, relationships with new partners are forged, and new platforms are created.
