YEREVAN. – As a result of the Armenian-Russian agreements signed Monday, the natural gas prices in Armenia will not change for the consumers.

Presidential Chief of Staff Vigen Sargsyan informed the aforesaid Tuesday at a briefing with reporters.

Sargsyan added that the result of the agreement with the Russian party was the securing of the stability of the natural gas price in Armenia, Panorama.am reports.

“We specified the formula for the calculation of the gas supply for five years, and this is very important,” he noted.

In his words, the remaining 20 percent of ArmRusGazprom’s shares—which belonged to the Armenian government—were given to Russian energy giant Gazprom Company in order to compensate for the difference in the gas price that was occurring between the supply price being calculated at the border and the price being calculated for the consumer.

So, as per Sargsyan, although Armenia will now receive natural gas at a price that is about 30 percent less than the negotiated price, the supply prices within Armenia will not be reviewed.

“As a result of these arrangements, the gas price will not drop, but it is obviously a great advantage that it will not increase,” he noted.

Vigen Sargsyan assured that if the negotiations with the Russian side had been successful, Armenia would have had to review the domestic natural gas supply prices yet again.
