YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan is being “decorated” in the lead-up to the 2014 New Year celebrations.

Christmas trees are being set up in the central part of each city district. These trees, just like the main Christmas tree at Republic Square, are being decorated with toys and diode lighting.

“All the Christmas trees, which are natural trees, consist of pine tree branches that are cut for exclusively sanitary purposes,” Yerevan Municipality official Araz Baghdasaryan noted.

Christmas lightings are being installed at more than fifty central streets and highways.

In addition, this year around 300 other trees are being decorated with diode lighting.

Furthermore, some of the central buildings, city furnishings, and public transport vehicles will take on a festive New Year look.

In Baghdasaryan’s words, there will also be New Year surprises in the streets of Yerevan.
