YEREVAN. – Nothing prevents Iran from selling gas to friendly states and other countries at different rates, Iranian Ambassador said.

The diplomat assured his country can apply different approach to friendly states like Armenia.

“Everything depends on agreement between the parties,” Mohammad Reisi noted.

Earlier Armenian Energy Minister said Iran would sell gas at least for $400 per 1,000 cubic meters on the border in contrast to $189 by Russia.

Asked to comment on the remark by Energy Minister, the Iranian diplomat said he had not seen yet the gas agreement between Russia and Armenia.

“We must learn the price for Russian gas and then can hold talks to see what the price for Iranian gas can be. Everything depends on negotiations,” Reisi said.

In this regard, the Ambassador was asked about gas price for example for Turkey. In response, Reisi noted that the comparison is not the right one.

“Iran is selling gas to Turkey at market prices and at what price we would have sold it to Armenia depends on negotiations. Theoretically, nothing prevents Iran to sell gas at $400 to common states and at $100 to friendly countries,” he concluded.
