YEREVAN. – The Armenian Prime Ministerial Industrial Council convened a regular session on Friday. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who is Chairman of the Council, chaired the event.

The session got underway with the introduction of the first Armenian-made tablet computer (Armtab) and mobile phone (Armphone), informs the Press Office of the Government of Armenia.

The PM informed that the Armenian-American joint venture Technology and Science Dynamics Inc․/Armtab Technologies Company has launched the manufacturing of the first-ever tablet computers in Armenia.

In turn, Company President Vahan Shakaryan informed that the pilot tablet computers—with 3G and WiFi capabilities—and the first Armenian-made mobile phone are already manufactured.

Shakaryan noted that the quality of these tablet computers is as good as the world famous brands, but they will cost substantially less than the global brands.

The software and hardware of these tablet computers are designed in Armenia, but they are assembled in the US and Hong Kong.

The mass production and sale of the Armenian-made tablet computers are planned to get underway in January-February 2014.

Shakaryan also presented the first Armenian-made tablet computer to PM Sargsyan, and expressed the hope that it will be helpful in the daily work.

Tigran Sargsyan instructed to organize a presentation ceremony for the Armtab.
