Several members of the French parliament, French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud, and some members of the Armenian National Assembly Armenia-France Friendship Group paid a visit Saturday to Armenia’s City of Gyumri.

They came to the city on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the devastating earthquake that struck Armenia on December 7, 1988, and to pay their respects to the victims of this natural disaster.

Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan highly appreciated France’s contribution to the strengthening of friendly ties between the two nations.

For their part, the French delegation members presented their activities and their projects planned in the foreseeable future.

Subsequently, the French MPs awarded Balasanyan with the medal of the French parliament.

After their meeting, the Gyumri mayor and the French friends visited and placed flowers to the earthquake memorial.
