YEREVAN. – Instead of making provocative statements, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu would do right by visiting the Armenian Genocide Memorial in capital city Yerevan

Armenian deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan told the aforesaid to Armenpress news agency, as he commented on Davutoglu’s most recent statements made on regional matters.

“Before visiting Yerevan to participate in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization meeting, [and] instead of [making] provocative statements, the Turkish FM would do right by seizing the opportunity and visiting the monument to pay a silent tribute to the memory of the Genocide victims.

Turkey can contribute to the normalization of relations with Armenia by ratifying and implementing, without any preconditions, the Armenian-Turkish Protocols.

“If Turkey wishes to further accelerate the establishment of civilized relations between the countries of the region, it must recognize the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire, and open the Armenian-Turkish border which it closed,” Kocharyan stated, in particular.
