YEREVAN. – Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan will light up the Christmas tree in Republic Square on December 17, for the third time during his term in office.

The dress up of the 32-meter high Christmas tree required over 6,000 fir branches, 38,000 lights and 500 toys.

On December 17 all twelve Christmas trees installed in the administrative districts of Yerevan will be lit up.

A Christmas Market will appear in Northern Avenue. Numerous events will be held in the streets during the holidays, representative of the municipality Araz Baghdasaryan told reporters.

Besides, a skating ring will open on December 20. The municipality will hold a contest for the best decoration of facades.

The municipality allocated 20 million AMD for New Year and Christmas celebrations.
