ISTANBUL. – Rober Koptas, Chief Editor of Istanbul’s Agos Armenian bilingual weekly, wrote an article about Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu’s visit to Armenia on Thursday.

In the article, Koptas argued that the primary objective of Davutoglu’s visit was not the matter of reopening Turkey’s border with Armenia.

He wrote that the Turkish FM’s Yerevan trip was an important phase in the diplomacy which became more active recently in the Caucasus. As per Koptas, the visit bore the peculiarity of the meeting between the Armenian and the Turkish FMs ever since the Armenian-Turkish Protocols that were signed in 2009.

Agos’ chief editor also drew attention to the fact that Davutoglu’s visit to Armenia was an attribute of the opening of the road to the establishment of a comprehensive peace in the Caucasus.

To note, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu participated, under protests, in Thursday’s meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The event was held in Armenian capital city Yerevan. Subsequently, Davutoglu met with Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian.
