YEREVAN. – The European Union (EU) and Armenia are working around a new legal basis for their relations, and this could be a new association agreement.

Polish Ambassador to Armenia, Zdzisław Raczyński, told the aforesaid to RFE/RL Armenian service

Raczyński stressed, however, that such a new association agreement will not have the depth of cooperation that was specified in the previous association agreement.

“I do not rule out that it [i.e., the new legal basis] would be an association agreement but slightly different, since there are various association agreements.

“What was offered to the Eastern Partners was a completely different association; that is, different political and economic realities are hidden under the same name, and the name may be kept, but it would contain less close cooperation than it was assumed in the beginning,” Raczyński stated, in particular.
