YEREVAN. – Since April 2010 the protocols signed between Armenia and Turkey are frozen, and the initiator was Turkish side on behalf of its parliament. This was stated by Artak Zakaryan, the head of Armenian parliament’s standing committee on foreign affairs.

The protocols are frozen because of Turkey’s unwillingness to normalize relations with Armenia.

“It was our initiative, and Armenia is loyal to it,” Zakaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He emphasized that the protocols cannot be linked  to Karabakh issue.

The Armenian-Turkish protocols were signed by the foreign ministers of Turkey and Armenia, Edward Nalbandian and Ahmet Davutoglu on October 10, 2009 . However, due to unconstructive position of Turkey which has put forward precondition for their ratification, the process was suspended.
