YEREVAN. – Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan on Wednesday met with US Ambassador to Armenia, John Heffern, and a delegation led by Evelyn Farkas, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia.

The parties gave a high assessment to the current level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, informs the Armenian MOD press service.

Ohanyan noted that the Armenian military servicemen’s education and training at American military educational institutions and training centers play a great role in the preparation of Armenian Armed Forces personnel. But, as per the minister, concrete steps need to be taken to establish peacekeeping training capacities in Armenia.

For her part, Farkas stated that even though the present-day domains of bilateral cooperation are beneficial, there are broader perspectives for their development.

The interlocutors discussed bilateral cooperation and regional security.

The aforesaid US delegation is in Armenia to hold Armenian-American defense consultations, which will be held on Thursday.
