The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) report noted that Turkey is the world’s leading jailer of journalists. 

As per the CPJ, 2013 is the second worst year on record for jailed journalists, Zaman daily of Turkey reports.

According to the report, Turkey has the most number of jailed journalists, with 40. The next are Iran and China, with 35 and 32 jailed journalists, respectively.

It is noted that the world’s other leading jailers of journalists are Vietnam, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Syria, Egypt, and Uzbekistan.
