YEREVAN. – Accession to any economic structure will not limit Armenia’s possibilities in defense sector, said Armenian Deputy Defense Minister.

Davit Tonoyan talked to reporters after consolations with Evelyn Farkas, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia/Ukraine/Eurasia.

Deputy Minister said there are no obstacles to strengthening of Armenia-US cooperation on defense.

“This was repeatedly stated by the President of Armenia, Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs. Armenia’s accession to any economic format cannot lead to changes within defense cooperation and security. On the contrary, our cooperation with U.S. on defense will further develop and deepen,” he said.

Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan announced Armenia’s intention to join Customs Union during his visit to Moscow in September.
