YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia issued its decision on Thursday.

The decision concerned the matter of whether or not the obligations that are specified in the agreement signed between the Governments of Armenia and Russia, and with respect to the sale of the shares of ArmRusGazprom company of Armenia and the future conditions of operations, are consistent with the Constitution of Armenia. Aravot.am reported.

To note, the said agreement was signed on December 2 in capital city Yerevan.

Incidentally, the President of Armenia had petitioned to the CC, and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan was the sole person attending the court session.

The CC ruled that the aforementioned agreement obligations are consistent with the Constitution of Armenia, Aravot.am reports.

According to this agreement, the 20.007 percent of ArmRusGazprom’s shares, which the Government of Armenia owns, is sold to Gazprom Company of Russia.

Responding to the query as to whether, aside from Russia, any other country has the right to import natural gas to Armenia, Movsisyan said that no other Russian company, except for Gazprom, has the right to import gas to Armenia.
