YEREVAN. – I do not agree that the fate of Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast (Region) awaits Armenia once it enters the Customs Union (CU), Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated at a press conference on Friday.

“We have solely reviewed the Kaliningrad track-record, and they are different things because the mechanisms proposed to Armenia are still being discussed. I believe we will be offered a mechanism, containing Kaliningrad’s track-record, which will be more favorable for us.

“A transit plan is developed, according to which Georgia will consider those goods as transit [goods], and they will cross the border with a transit procedure,” Sargsyan noted.

As per the PM, the Russian Federation customs officers will receive the products with the seals of Armenian customs officers, the Armenian goods will not be inspected, and they immediately will enter the CU space.

“We will achieve this by signing international agreements. We plan to facilitate the transit procedures as much as possible, and we have no problem with the Georgian associates in this respect,” Tigran Sargsyan said.
