In the struggle against the Turkish denial, the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) has decided to launch a petition asking Switzerland to appeal the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR),, French-Armenian journalist Jean Eckian reports from Paris.

The ECHR found that the ultra-nationalist Dogu Perincek, president of the Party of Turkish workers could not be condemned for saying publicly in Geneva in 2007, the “so-called Armenian genocide is an imperialist lie”.

The ECtHR recently ruled in favor of Armenian Genocide-denying Turkish politician Dogu Perincek’s lawsuit that was filed against Switzerland. The said judgment by European Court of Human Rights was made on the grounds of freedom of speech. In 2008, a Swiss court had convicted Perincek for denying the Armenian Genocide. Dogu Perincek is Chairman of the socialist Workers’ Party of Turkey.
