Georgian authorities said they are interested in holding of successful Winter Olympics in Sochi and are ready to help Russia in ensuring security there.

At the same time only Georgian athletes will go to Sochi, as the official events are boycotted by the authorities.

“Georgia is the only state having direct border with the territories where Olympics are held,” said Paata Zakareishvili, Georgian Minister for Reconciliation.

He said Tbilisi is interested in peace and stability in the Caucasus, as this will help the country’s faster integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures, Kommersant reported.
