European Commission president said EuroMaidan in Kyiv demonstrated importance of the European Union as a “beacon of hope and values”.

Speaking during the plenary session, Jose Manuel Barroso touched upon mass protest actions in the Ukrainian capital, Rosbalt.ru reported.

He said Europe was demonstrated as a beacon of hope and values, guarantee of human rights and freedoms.

Although there are many Europeans disappointed in EU, Ukrainians are waving EU flags during cold nights in Kyiv, thus confirming importance of the Union, he noted.
