YEREVAN. – Rostelecom network has not been attacked by hackers, GNC Director General Hayk Farmazyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“There was neither attack, nor an attempt. The accident occurred on the external fiber cable, but it has not affected the quality of communication of Rostelecom in Armenia,” he said.

According to him, the company continues to provide traffic through other two external cables.

The accident that occurred on one of the external cables on the territory of Russia will be resolved within a few hours, Farmazyanassured.

GNC Alfa CJSC is a subsidiary of Russia’s Rostelecom. The company is a provider of backbone internet to Armenia via three channels ( two of them through Georgia and one through Iran) and is also an operator of retail internet.
