TBILISI. – Georgia’s newly elected President, Giorgi Margvelashvili, on Monday traveled to Turkey on an official visit; this is the new Georgian president’s first official trip abroad.   

Within the framework of his visit, Margvelashvili is scheduled to hold formal talks with Turkey’s president, PM, and parliament speaker, the Georgian president’s press service informs.   

In addition, Margvelashvili will visit the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and place flowers to the tomb.  

After the formal meetings, the presidents of Georgia and Turkey will hold a joint news conference in capital city Ankara.

According to Georgian media, following the trip, Giorgi Margvelashvili will pay a visit to a military unit, which is located in the ancient Armenian Tayk Province.
