YEREVAN. – During 2013 Armenian Foreign Ministry took efforts aimed at strengthening of the Armenian-Russian allied relations, says the report summarizing foreign ministry’s activities.

According to the report, during the year there were six meetings between the presidents of Armenia and Russia during which agreement was reached on a wide range of issues.

“After the presidential elections, President Serzh Sargsyan on March 12 paid ​​his first foreign visit to the Russian Federation,” the report says.

The document also emphasizes that during the visit of Armenian leader to Moscow two joint statements were adopted on September 3.  

During the state visit of Russian president Vladimir Putin to Armenia on December 2 strategic agreements were reached aimed at Armenia’s economic growth and security improvement. Following the visit 12 key documents were signed.

Foreign Ministry also points to the development of the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation and the meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries - in Minsk on May 31 and in St. Petersburg on November 20.

“During the year around dozen meetings in bilateral and multilateral formats between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Russia took place,” the report says.

The document mentions meetings of defense ministers and heads of different departments.

In addition, the final document of Armenian Foreign Ministry stresses expansion of interregional and humanitarian ties.

The Days of Yerevan were held in St. Petersburg on July 3-6 and in Moscow on November 27-29.
