YEREVAN. – In 2013 European direction remained one of the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy. The political dialogue between Armenia and EU was marked by mutual visits, says the report issued by Foreign Ministry to sum up 2013.

The report mentions the joint statement adopted by Armenia and EU during Eastern Partnership summit. Although it was stated the sides finished negotiations on association, the parties confirmed their commitment to develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

It is noted that Armenian FM and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton exchanged letters outlining the agenda of future cooperation between Armenia and EU.

The active parliamentary cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats continued. The report mentions all visits paid by Armenian and EU officials.

Mobility remains one of the priorities of Armenia-EU cooperation. In 2013 agreements on the facilitation and readmission of visa regime were ratified, and came into force on 1 January 2014.

Under the decision of the Armenian government, EU citizens can enter Armenia without a visa starting from January 2014.

In order to expand sectoral cooperation with the EU in 2013, the National Assembly of Armenia and the European Parliament ratified the protocol on the Framework Agreement that provides Armenia with an opportunity to take part in EU projects and activities of European agencies.
