The Russian Federation (RF) may require a license for the beer being imported from Armenia.

The RF State Duma is preparing a bill whereby the requirements for the circulation of beer in the country will become stricter. All major companies will be issued licenses for the production and circulation of beer in Russia.

The RF National Union of Malt Beer and Non-Alcoholic Beverage Producers press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the said document is being prepared, and the preliminary remarks are about the producers.

“It is quite possible that they also will obligate the distributors to get a license,” the press service added.

Armenia has exported 1,500 liters of beer—totaling about $1.3 million—to Russia in the first nine months of 2013, and this makes up 90 percent of the beer which Armenia exports.
