YEREVAN. – With its participation in the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Armenia is also creating a respective obligatory field if the need arises to assist it, or the other organization member countries.  

Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan stated the aforesaid Wednesday, at his talk with representatives from the “Armenian Eagles” patriotic NGO.

Ohanyan stressed that, pursuant to the CSTO Charter, these countries are obligated to help Armenia.   

In the minister’s words, being a CSTO member is extremely important for Armenia, especially since it is a founding country of this organization, and official Yerevan carries out a quite substantial work to improve the military component of the organization.   

“If necessary, the CSTO member states must come to the aid of Armenia. The present-day state of relations [among the other member countries] stirs some confidence, especially from the perspective of taking part in the military exercises,” Seyran Ohanyan noted.
