YEREVAN. – Armenia’s accession to Customs Union will not complicate trade with Iran, Economy Minister Vahram Avanesyan said.

“The main task will be improvement of conditions for bilateral trade,” the Minister added.

Avanesyan noted that trade conditions with Iran cannot deteriorate, since Armenia and Iran have neither a free trade agreement, nor any preferential agreement.

“Armenia has the right to negotiate for better terms of trade with countries outside the Customs Union. Similar negotiations are being held by European states, non-members of the EU - Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein – on free trade with the Customs Union. We can hold such talks with the target trading partners, for instance Vietnam (one of the rice suppliers),”Avanesyan emphasized.
