YEREVAN. – Armenian capital will host a seminar on the French experience of agricultural development. The issue was discussed during a meeting of Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan with French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud.

Ambassador said cooperation between the two countries in agriculture could be at a higher level. In the light of upcoming French President’s visit to Armenia this year, Ambassador Reynaud handed over to Minister Karapetyan an invitation from the French Agriculture Minister Stéphane Le Foll to visit France, proposing to organize a trip before Hollande’s visit. This will help build cooperation between Armenia and France in agriculture, which may be included in the agenda of the presidents’ meeting in Yerevan.

The Minister thanked for the invitation and promised to quickly submit a proposal on the timing of the visit and the proposed meetings.

Ambassador asked about the process of Armenia’s joining the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). The Minister said that the application for membership in the organization will soon be sent to OIV Secretary General.

In response to the proposal of the Minister made ​​last fall, Ambassador Reynaud offered to organize a seminar in Armenia on the French model of agricultural development. Minister Karapetyan expressed readiness to invite a delegation headed by the French Agriculture Minister to attend the event.
