YEREVAN. – The next court session into the case of Davit Vardanyan, the son of Armenia’s Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Vardanyan, will convene on Friday.  

Armenian News-NEWS.am learned the aforesaid from the judicial information system.

The case is examined at the General Jurisdiction Court of Syunik Region. 

The first court hearing was held on February 1.

Charges were brought against Davit Vardanyan for the fact that, from October 4 to 12, 2013, he had acquired 106 grams of hashish in Iran, wrapped 7 grams into rubber thimbles and swallowed, hid the remaining 99 grams in his handbag, and attempted to smuggle it into Armenia on October 12. Vardanyan had informed that he had acquired the drug solely for personal use. He was arrested, and a criminal case was opened against him, on charges of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and smuggling.
