YEREVAN. – February 19 is marked in Armenia as a book-giving day in Armenia.

The tradition was resumed in 2008 at the proposal of the Union of Writers and at the initiative of the Armenian government.

February 19 is the day when great Armenian poet and writer Hovhannes Tumanyan was born (1869-1923).

Different events dedicated to books will be held in an attempt to attract younger generation's interest in reading.
