YEREVAN. – The Ukrainians opened a window of hope for the post-Soviet countries, and toward the European Union, Armenian analyst Ruben Mehrabyan said at a press conference on Monday.

“The Ukrainians proved that they are a heroic people. They proved that Ukraine is not a criminal-oligarchic country,” Mehrabyan also said, and expressed a conviction that a power change was not on the initial agenda in Kyiv.

In turn, analyst Edgar Vardanyan did not rule out the possibility of a Maidan in Armenia, too, and in a foreseeable future. He stressed that today’s Armenia is very much alike the now former Ukraine.

“All the initiatives in Armenia bespeak the fact that the fight against the criminal regime is becoming fully grown at us, and the people could take to the streets very soon and fight here, too,” Vardanyan stated.

“The [four non-ruling-coalition parliamentary] factions [in Armenia] already are jointly fighting against some phenomena, and they are collaborating not solely at the parliament, but with the civic initiatives,” Ruben Mehrabyan added, for his part.
