YEREVAN. – The official opening of the 12th British Film Festival in Armenia was held at Moscow Cinema, in capital city Yerevan, with the screening of Jonathan Smith’s “February Summer.” (PHOTOS

This year’s festival is devoted to inclusive and communication problems within the society.

“First, we choose the theme of the festival. Subsequently, our professionals in Great Britain select the films that will cover the chosen theme. And then the talks begin with the directors of the [respective] films so we may acquire the right to screen the films.

“After a very long process, we present the program for the judgment of the Armenian audience,” head of the British Council Armenia Arevik Saribekyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Along the lines of the festival, nine films will be screened in Yerevan and in the regions of Armenia, and, just like before, admission to these screenings is free.

The event is organized by the British Council, the British Embassy in Yerevan, UNICEF, and ArmenTel CJSC (brand Beeline).

The 12th British Film Festival is also hosting Christine Bardsley, a film adviser at the British Council, and Matt Hulse, the director of the Dummy Jim film.
