Nineteen-year-old German biathlete Julia Pieper shot herself, on February 16 at her parents’ home,  with a sporting rifle.

According to the investigation, Pieper had committed suicide. But the motives for such an action are not reported. 

The media report that the biathlete, who was a member of the German youth national team, had psychological issues and had previously received treatment.
