YEREVAN. – The Armenian-Greek friendship is a great value which we need to preserve and pass on to future generations. 

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated the aforesaid Wednesday at his talk with Speaker Vangelis Meimarakis of the Hellenic Parliament, who is in Armenia on a two-day official visit.

“Your visit is a new opportunity to foster Armenian-Greek relations,” Sargsyan noted.  

In turn, the leader of the Greek parliament underscored the role of parliamentary ties in the expansion of bilateral collaboration.  

The parties attached importance to the deepening of Armenia-Greece cooperation within the framework of the European Union (EU). In this context, PM Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is determined to develop relations with the EU. For his part, Meimarakis assured that Greece will contribute to closer Armenia-EU ties.       

The interlocutors also discussed the avenues for the development of trade and economic relations. The Armenian PM highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation in several other domains, too.   

In addition, they reflected on regional matters. Vangelis Meimarakis emphasized that Greece supports the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict solely within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The two sides highly evaluated the Greek-Armenian community’s role in Greece and in the strengthening of Armenian-Greek friendship.

The speaker of the Hellenic Parliament conveyed to Tigran Sargsyan the warm greetings of his country’s PM. The Armenian premier extended his mutual greetings to his Greek counterpart, and invited him for a visit to Armenia.
